Apple day: Is it for a cheat and stall?

Maybe not this round or the next and hopefully not in any other rounds. But chances are, somewhere along the way you make mistakes. And now what? Should you start- over hcg injections or stop because you cheated? Or, do a stall breaker to fix a cheat?

A lot of times HCG dieters want to do an Apple day when they’ve cheated. You don’t have to do this. When you cheat you should not use an Apple day to fix an issue.  Because Apple days aren’t for cheats. They are for stalls. The primary purpose of Apple day is to help the body break a natural weight loss plateau. Dr. Simeons found out that by consuming a lot of apples and limiting your water intake for a day you can break your weight loss plateau.

Unfortunately, Apple day has been mistaken for a quick fix for cheating. Well, this is not a good idea. Whether it’s a small-time cheat like eating a taco one afternoon or a big time cheat like binging on a plate full of party foods during a wedding, Apple day is not the answer. Consider this one, the amount of carb and sugar in 4-6 apples are more than what’s allowed on your VLCD day. During an Apple day, your body consumes a lot of sugar and carbs than your normal VLCD. Say for example you eat six medium size apples. You will be consuming around 115 grams of sugar and about 124 grams of net carb. During your normal very low calorie diet, you consume only 38 grams of net carbs and 32 grams of sugar. That’s a big difference, right?

So, technically, an Apple day will not fix your cheat. Eating nothing but all sugar and carbs will not help you get back on track. There are other ways to fix a cheat. Should you Cheat on your VLCD or Not?

Are you trying to consider a cheat day on your HCG diet if the protocol wouldn’t going to be that easy for you? Well, you can because you certainly can recover after cheating. However, if you really want to lose the most weight possible DO NOT CHEAT. Cheating even just for one day during your VLCD can cause your weight loss to stall.

Avoid cheating. If you are in danger of cheating there are ways that you can do to help yourself and stay within your calorie limit. Keep in mind that the VLCD is only temporary. Before you knew it, you’ll be in Phase 3 and you can eat more.

#1. Eat more vegetables

When you are hungry and you are tempted to cheat, cheat on vegetables. DO NOT eat foods that are not HCG approved. You will gain some additional calories but it wouldn’t be that bad as trying to eat foods that aren’t approved on the list. So, go ahead and help yourself. After getting through the day go back to your 500 calorie hcg diet.

#2. Drink plenty of water along with eating more veggies

Increasing your water intake helps decrease your hunger. Drink at least half gallon each day. Don’t drink too quickly instead drink it steadily throughout the day.

#3. During Phase 2 avoid eating at restaurant

Avoid eating at a restaurant when you are in your very low calorie diet. Restaurant won’t offer you a meal that would fit all your HCG requirements. With just one ingredient in your meal that isn’t HCG approved it can throw your weight loss off. Stick to your cooking throughout your VLCD.

#4. Avoid eating unapproved foods

Never resort to eating unapproved HCG foods no matter how hungry you are. If you really can’t help it just stick to HCG approved foods. You’ll be gaining 100-150 more calories but it won’t set you back that far compared when you’ll totally break the protocol.

#5. Slightly increase your protein intake

Increasing your vegetable intake can help suppress your appetite. But if you are really struggling then try to increase your protein intake. Eat slightly more protein for a day then go back to your normal protocol the following day.

#6. Cheating can make your weight loss more difficult

Cheating can make your diet even more difficult. Because when you cheat and stall you are required to do a plateau breaker like an Apple day or a Steak day. You will find yourself guilty too. Worst, it can make you want to cheat more.

6 Things To Do After Cheating on the HCG Diet Phase 2

Cheating on HCG diet isn’t the end of everything. If you mess up and eat something you shouldn’t, don’t give up. It’s not too late to get back on the protocol. Stop cheating as soon as you catch it. Don’t let it spiral out of control.

Your next move after cheating is very critical to ensure that you will not stall.

Here are 6 things that you should do after you cheat during your phase 2.

  1. Drink plenty of water

What you have gained during your cheat day was actually water weight and not fats. Drink plenty of water to flush out those excess salts from your body. Stay hydrated so you don’t retain any more water.

  1. Exercise slightly more than usual

Do some light exercise for 2-3 days to help you offset your calorie gained from cheating. Instead of doing the usual 15-30 minute walk, you can increase it to 40-60 minutes. After few days you can resume your regular routine.

  1. Stay positive

Cheating during phase 2 will not make you a total failure.  Stay positive and don’t take it as a sign that you can’t do it.

  1. Don’t panic

Cheating is not the end as long as you will get back. So don’t panic. This is how the HCG hormone works.  Its ability to metabolize fats is amazing. However, the hormone won’t do its work if you cheat multiple times during your hcg diet. Remember, the only way to lose a maximum amount of weight is never to cheat.

  1. Check your weight gain and look for plateaus

Check your weight for any gain. Some of your weight gains are mostly due to a higher salt intake. Track these changes and log in your hcg diet journal. Again, if your weight has STALLED, try an Apple day or Steak day.

  1. Don’t over-correct

Trying everything all at once to get the cheat weight off is not the best strategy. Post-cheat blunder includes:

  • Doubling up on your dose

You will just run out of injections if you will double your hcg dosage. Yet the effect will still be the same.

  • Skipping meals

Skipping meals can slow down your metabolism and you won’t likely to lose weight the next day.

  • Doing an Apple day right away

Actually, Apple days aren’t for cheats. They are for stalls. DO NOT do an Apple day unless your weight has stalled for 4 days. Most, important do not double up on stall breaking remedies like doing an Apple day and Steak day at the same time. Doing two stall breakers can send your body off into a shock. Your body just needs to get back into your usual hcg diet routine after cheating. Eventually, your weight gain will come off. And if it doesn’t and your weight has stayed the same for 4 days that’s the time you will do a stall breaker.

Overcoming a Plateau on The HCG Diet

Weight loss during your diet with HCG is pretty fast… not until you hit a plateau or stall. Plateaus do occur at times on the HCG Diet, even when the diet is being followed perfectly, according to Dr. Simeons manuscript.

A lot of dieter experiences fast fat loss during their first few weeks. Suddenly they hit a speed bump along the way even when they follow the protocol correctly. Yes, it’s kind of frustrating but eventually, it will break on its own. It usually lasts about 4-6 days or sometimes shorter. Most hcg dieters hit their plateaus in the second half of their hcg diet.

However, you shouldn’t worry about plateaus because there are many ways to break them. And you shouldn’t wait out either for we will provide you with options on how you are going to break plateaus. That includes the popular Apple day and Mini Steak day.

Plateau breaker #1- Try an Apple day on the 4th day of your plateau

  • Reduce your fluid intake by 2-3 quarts a day.
  • Eat 6 apples throughout the day.

The purpose of this is to eliminate excess water.

Plateau breaker #2- Try a Mini Steak day

  • Drink only water the entire day and then during dinner, eat about 3.5 oz of steak along with a tomato or an apple.

Steak day helps you break a plateau by reducing water retention. Both the Steak day and Apple day should only be used occasionally.

Plateau breaker #3- Try eating organic foods

  • Eating processed foods can interfere with HCG hormone and can possibly contribute to plateaus. Processed foods can contain a high amount of sodium that results in water retention. So, make sure that you only purchase organic foods. Stay away from pre-packaged or processed foods.

  • Avoid carbonated beverages because they can definitely interfere with HCG hormone and can contribute to your plateau. The only allowable sweetener in HCG diet is Stevia.

Plateau breaker #5- Try not to eat too many calories

  • Going 30-40 calories above the required calorie intake per day can cause problems with the ability of HCG to target the abnormal fats. Make sure you count your calories. Use a calorie counter app to exactly count your calorie each meal.

Plateau breaker #6- Try apple cider vinegar

  • Apple cider vinegar can be very effective at breaking plateaus by improving fat metabolism. It is also a great seasoning for your meal and is recommended even if you are not on a plateau.

Plateau breaker #7- Use mild laxative if you are constipated

  • One reason why you may experience a plateau is due to constipation. Use a mild laxative. Be sure you are also drinking lots and lots of water.

Plateau breaker #8- Do some light exercise

  • Start with 20-30 minutes of walking each day. But do not exercise more than 30 minutes. Do not exert yourself too. Doing some light exercise like walking can help reduce fluid retention and improve circulation.

Plateau breaker #9- Get enough sleep

  • Make sure you are getting enough sleep. Your scale may reflect a little to no weight loss if you will stay up late at night and wakes up early the next day.

Plateau breaker #10- Check the protocol

  • Make sure that you are following the protocol correctly. A small change in the protocol can affect the capabilities of HCG hormone to target the abnormal fats. Double check the hcg protocol and make sure you aren’t skipping out on any requirements.
