Hungry During the First Few Days of 500 Calorie Diet

Is it going to be difficult?

Yes. Anything you do that is different from what you are used with will be difficult. But as long as you follow the protocol you will succeed. Research shows that it takes about 21 days to develop a habit. That means to say it will only take you 21 days to start the habit of eating healthy. So better make your healthy food choice a habit and not just a trial or a temporary option.

Having to survive with only 500 calories a day is no joke. Your first few days can be pretty hard but after some time your brain’s hypothalamus and your body will adjust.  Any psychological effect such as mood swing and physical effects like headaches will start to lessen. You will also experience some withdrawal from not eating sugar and carbs which can be stressful. So try doing things that will keep your mind busy. Take a walk or learn a new skill so you’ll not get fixated on your diet.

Your transition can be difficult. You’ll experience some hunger pains that are unavoidable. Since your body is used to having high sugar and carbs then your body will ask more for it. Your brain will send a signal and inform your body that it needs more energy. You can also experience a small amount of fatigue and headache during your first few days of 500 calorie diet. You can take aspirin as advised by Dr. Simeons. But after few days your headache will go away.

On your third or fourth day of 500 calorie diet, your appetite will significantly reduce because of the hCG hormone. You’ll start to feel fine and you won’t feel much hungrier at all. Your body will get accustomed to your diet transition and you’ll get all the energy that you need from your stored fats. You’ll probably feel like you even have more energy than you did before the diet. Remember that hcg is providing you with the majority of the energy you’ll need. Remember that hunger is psychological. Just be positive.

Adjusting your hCG Dosage

Before you think on adjust your dose of hCG let us identify what hunger is and isn’t. Hunger is not the noises your stomach makes or the “growling”.  It is not an empty feeling. They are perfectly normal. But true hunger is a gnawing ache in your stomach that is distracting and almost painful. You may want to put anything in your mouth just to make the sensation go away. True hunger makes you want to eat even those foods that aren’t hcg approved.

True hunger is a sign that you need to adjust your dose. Your dose may be too high or too low. Most of the time, the dose is too high and not too low. A higher dose can make you hungrier than a lower dose.

Situation 1

Morning of your first very low calorie diet, you woke up hungry even though you’ve done a terrific job of loading. You have not started with your diet, yet there you are feeling hungry.

What to do:

You cannot skip yet until you had at least 4 hcg injections. On your 3rd day, you lower your dose by 50 IU. Say if you are taking 200 IU, make it 150 IU. The next day increase it to 175 IU. The quick adjustment should fix you right up.

Situation 2

You feel ravenous after several days or weeks on the diet. Its either you metabolize hcg slowly so it crept up too high or too fast that you need a little more.

What to do:

Skip your next injection and pay attention to how you feel after 4:00 pm and in the evening. If your hunger fades you can lower your dose by 25 IU. But if your hunger doesn’t get better, lower your dose even more. Try to lower it to 150 IU if you’ve been on a 200 IU or 125 IU if your previous dose is 175 IU.

You might want to consider the following before adjusting your dose.

  1. Double check your menu. See to it that you’ve not eaten anything that can trigger your body to send hunger signals.
  2. Are you dehydrated?
  3. Check your hCG dosage.
  4. Are you having your HCG shot at the same time every day?

Hunger on The HCG Diet

Having a right dose of hCG is one of the most challenging aspects when on the diet. Most of the time, a dose between 125 IU-150IU is perfect. But the thing is, everyone is different. Most have gone through a period of trial and error just to find the right dose. Another thing is, over time, your dose can change because of the weight you were able to lose.

Why should you pay attention to your dose?

  1. First, if your dose is not right, you will feel too hungry on the diet. It’s going to be unbearable. At the same time, it is counterproductive to your weight loss goal. Being too hungry on the hcg diet can actually slow down your weight loss. Overtime again, you will give up.

It’s possible that your dose is too low or too high. So instead of losing weight, your body will hold onto fats and you won’t lose weight at all. Or you’ll either lose your muscles.

  1. When your dose is correct, you won’t feel too hungry. This is a good sign. It shows that your body is really using those abnormal fats as fuel and that you’re losing weight at a good rate.

Hunger level on hCG Diet

It’s normal though to feel hungry while on the hcg diet but not in pain. When you’re on the very low calorie diet you shouldn’t feel hungry most of the day. You may feel hunger before mealtimes but that’s totally normal and in time to take your next HCG meal. After that, you’re satisfied and you’re no longer hungry for many hours afterward.

Once you’re done eating your meal you won’t feel “full” or “stuffed”. This may take for a while for you to get used to the “not full feeling” rather than the “full” feeling. In the end, you may notice that it actually feels better and more comfortable.

Hungry during the first few days of 500 calorie diet

This is inevitable and it can be intimidating at first. Your being hungry indicates that your body needs more energy. Since you’re so used to doing this with high carbs, sugar and fats foods your body will still ask for it. But after few days your body and your brain will adjust to the effects of eating only 500 calories a day.

HCG Diet: Eating on the Go – Eating Out

Eating out while on P2 of the HCG diet can be a frightful experience. I would love to tell you NOT to go out and just cook your meals. But it doesn’t always work like that especially when we have a busy day. It is difficult to avoid eating out due to “Life”. But try to avoid eating out for the first couple of weeks of your HCG diet.

Here are some ways on how you can stay close to the program and still be able to eat out and on the go.

HCG diet eating on the go

If you have to eat on the go, grab a grilled chicken salad with some lemon wedges. You can easily separate the croutons because it comes separately. Hold the cheese and add onions and tomatoes. Use the lemon instead of dressing.

HCG diet eating out

Most restaurants offer large portion that you can make two meals out of it. Probably after few weeks, you can judge the proper meal size without actually using the kitchen scale.

Option 1:

Go for a green salad with grilled chicken and lemon wedges. You can use the lemon as your dressing.

Option2:

Order the “vegetable of the day” for your dinner with grilled chicken, steak or fish. But again, be careful with the portion size with both options.

Option 3:

The smaller portion of the kid’s menu can also be your ticket for an appropriate HCG meal. Choose a menu with vegetables and lean meat.

Remember: When you go off your hcg diet plan and eat more carbs and fats you will notice a difference in your results. You will lose weight but your progress can be slow. So stay close to the protocol.

 Additional Do’s and Don’ts

DO’s

  • Do bring Stevia sweetener packets and your own salad dressing with you.

DON’TS

  • Do ask questions like if the meat marinade has oil. In this way, it will keep you from having surprises at the scale the next morning.
  • Do not go to a place where you’ll be tempted to eat chips or bread on the table.

HCG Diet Eating Out Tips

Before you embark on the HCG diet it is extremely important to check your calendar for big events like parties and wedding so you can start with your weight loss journey before or after the events. But you don’t have to give up totally your social life just because you want to lose weight. You choose to be healthy so make healthy choices too.

Here are 10 tips for eating out on the HCG diet.

  1. Plan ahead for what you want to order. You can Google for the restaurant’s menu option before you dine out.
  2. When you spy nothing that fits into your protocol ask them to make you something. Use your voice.
  3. Choose water, tea or sparkling water. Nothing can clean and hydrates your body like water does.
  4. Stay away from dips or any carbs to nibble. They are all full of calories so it’s a BIG NO.
  5. Potion your food. When you order your meal ask for a separate plate and a to-go box. Anything that you order that is not within your portion size, pack it away for your next meal.
  6. Avoid sugary desserts. Go for something refreshing like healthy smoothies.
  7. See to it that there is something green on your plate. Opt for Arugula, spinach, etc. rather than iceberg. Make sure that you eat the green ones first because they offer many nutrients needed by your body.
  8. Avoid foods loaded with heavy cream and cheese like pasta.
  9. Eat slowly. Savor every mouthful. Remember that your chosen meal will energize and nourish your body and will help keep you on the track.
  10. Have tea as you after dinner “treat” instead of breaking into a piece of chocolate cake.

You may want to come back after your round is over. Have whatever you like. But after your round is over, you can see the difference…

  1. Once you’ve been eating healthy foods for several weeks you won’t want what you were once craving for.
  2. If you want something that is not allowed in Phase 2 of the HCG Diet but is allowed on Phase 3 and 4, go ahead and enjoy. Just be mindful of the portion sizes.
