The Transition Period-3 Days Before Phase 3 of the HCG Diet

After Phase 2 of the hCG diet comes the Phase 3 or the Maintenance Phase where you’ve got to eat REAL FOODS. I know you’ve been eating real foods during your P2 but what I am talking about is that you can finally add some olive oil into your dishes. But hold on…because there is still a Transition period that lasts for 3 long days before you can proceed to Phase 3.

What is Transition period?

How long: Transition period last for 72 hours or 3 days. This makes sure that all traces of HCG are out of your body before you start introducing back larger portion of foods.

When to start: Your transition period starts immediately following your last hCG shot. Now don’t get mixed up. Again, your Transition period of 72 hours begins exactly at the last time of your injection. It’s NOT 3 days after your last injection but 3 days from your last hcg injection. Your last hCG dose is included in the 72 hour period.

How to do: During your transition period you continue with your 500 calories diet WITHOUT having your dose of HCG. Why? Because when you take in more calories while there is still HCG hormone in your body could make you gain weight.

What to eat: During this period the 500 calorie diet is still followed. Your first 24 hours would be just like you are on any other very low calorie diet day. The next 24 hours would be similar your skip shot at the end of every week if you’re doing the 46 day protocol. But on your last 24 hour period, you may find yourself getting hungrier.

What to do: There is no need for you to increase your calorie intake for the first 48 hours. But on the last 24 hours, you may start increasing your calorie intake about 200-300 calories. Eat more of the Phase 2 foods ONLY when you are hungry. And stay away from fats and oil. You can start increasing your fats intake the next day.

Breaks Between Each Round of the HCG Diet

How long do I need to wait before I can start with another round?

This is a very common question that most HCG dieters ask. Don’t get too excited. I know you want to get rid of those excess weights and get that beautiful body thing faster. However, there is a waiting time and it’s very important to DO the waiting time for its part of the hcg diet protocol. You can’t past the 23 days or the 46 days in a row.

Each round of HCG diet goes anywhere from a minimum of 23 days to a maximum of 46 days. You start with loading days (2 days) then Phase 2-Very low calorie diet phase (3-26 days or 3-46 days). When the main part of the diet is complete, there is a lock-in period of 3 weeks. This is the Phase 3 or the Maintenance phase (3 weeks). You have to complete each phase of the protocol. Once Phase 3 is complete you must wait a minimum of 6 weeks before you start with your second round. You can do multiple rounds to hit your goal weight.  Now when you do multiple rounds your break must be lengthened each time.

Waiting time for each round of the hCG diet as per Dr. Simeons instruction

Round 1 to Round 2:      6 weeks total

Round 2 to Round 3:      8 weeks total

Round 3 to Round 4:    10 weeks total

Round 4 to Round 5:    12 weeks total

2 weeks is added for every successive round. The amount of excess fats you need to shed will determine the number of rounds you should complete.

Remember, waiting time is VERY important. Why?

If you skip this break and start right away with your next round, you will see no further weight loss. According to Dr. Simeon, some dieter seemed to develop immunity to the hormone. When your body becomes immune to the effect of the hormone your weight loss will start to decrease. But once you take a break between each round your body will renew and you’ll likely to lose a lot of weight on your next round.

Perfect Technique Before Injecting Your hCG

Tip #1 Inject only on one location

Stick with only one location unless you felt the following:

  • Extreme hunger

Injections can sometimes be the cause of your hungry. This is because it’s not given properly like trying to inject in an area that’s hard to reach. If this will happen, try changing your injection location. Most dieters do this and from their observations their hunger level went away after switching.

  • Pain in the injection area

Change your injection site when you start to feel pain. It’s possibly due to scar tissue or there are no fats left in the injection area. What’s left is just excess skin.

Tip #2  Numb the injection area

Don’t panic about the possible pain from the needle. Use an ice to numb the area a bit before injecting. You can do this during the first few days of injection. But really, when you have plenty of stored fats down there, you won’t really feel any pain. The most that you can feel is a slight prick of the needle as it breaks into your skin.

Tip #3 Take precautionary measures

Since you’ll be dealing with needles in giving HCG, start by washing your hands with soap and water. Prepare the kit and make it sure that you’ve read the instructions well. Before injecting, clean the injection area with an alcohol swap then let it dry. After injecting, dispose of the syringe and needles properly.

Tip #4 Bruises, redness-What to do?

Bruises and redness can be annoying sometimes and painful too. But don’t worry because they are not life-threatening. And they do happen. You get bruises when you get too close to a blood vessel while injecting your hCG or you went through it with a needle. You’ll probably get a bruise when there are bleeding after you pull the needle out. What to do? Apply gentle pressure to stop the bleeding and to avoid having a small lump of blood under the skin. Even with a perfect technique of injecting your hCG, you’ll probably get redness and tingle on your skin. There is no way to know exactly where the nerves are. Again, you can apply some ice to help ease the tingling sensation and redness.

hCG Shot Before Bedtime

The HCG diet protocol requires you to inject the hormone in the morning. Morning injections can help you through the early part of your HCG diet, the VLCD. It is the most challenging part. The hormone will help you manage your hunger level throughout the day. However, there is nothing wrong if you want to have your HCG shot in the evening. The time you’ll have your HCG shot won’t affect how it works. As long as you will have it at regular intervals of 24 hours, there is nothing to worry. You won’t be having any issues at all with injecting before bedtime.

But in some cases, injecting HCG in the evening is not advised. There may be some unwanted but non-dangerous effect like sleeping problems. This can vary from person to person. Those who have their shot before bedtime experience insomnia due to increased energy level. Now if your sleeping problems persist you will have difficulties with phase 2 because of lower energy level.

Is it dangerous?

Taking hCG before bedtime is not dangerous in any way. But as much as possible avoid having your shot in the evening because of the potential sleep issues. As I’ve mentioned, it varies from person to person. Some do not experience sleep issues at all. In this case, they can have their shots in the evening if they want to. Some dieters may experience different results like not being hungry during the day. If you have had your shots at night time and you do not encounter any issues at all, continue having your shots in the evening.

It’s actually the amount of hormone you take that matters and not the time of the day. Proper dosage is very important. Most can do well with 125 IU a day. But do not exceed 200 IU in a 24 hours period. Do not inject more than the recommended hcg dosage. Injecting more than the recommended dose will not cause you to lose more weight. It will only make your diet difficult by making you hungrier. Eventually, you’ll end up cheating or worst stopping the diet.

When to Take Your Shot of hCG diet?

You may be asking right now when the best time is to have your shot of hCG diet. To get right down to it, there is actually no particular time to have your shot.  Say on your first day you started at 8 in the morning and then the next day at 8:10. Don’t worry it won’t affect your weight loss. It’s not going to cause you harm at all.

Dr. Simeons recommend hCG injections should be given in the morning. But what if your work is at night time? No worries too. It won’t affect your weight loss even if it’s changed around a bit.

The thing with hCG is:

  1. No matter what time of the day you had your shot do your best to have it at the same time each day. You don’t have to take your shot at exactly the same time each day but see to it that they aren’t that close together. Your timing will keep a good amount of hormone in your body at all time. The hormone actually stays in your system for up to 3 days after your last shot.

Now if you missed a shot don’t freak out. Continue with your diet and have your shot the next day on the normal schedule. Always keep an hCG diet journal with you in case you cannot remember whether you have your shot or not.

  1. See to it that you refrigerate your hCG properly and good to go. If in case you failed to refrigerate it for at least 6 hours, you have to replace it then. The hormone inside won’t be that effective anymore.

Most dieters choose to have their shots in the morning right after shower and weighing-ins. This would make it easier for them to remember. It can be difficult and challenging to remember to have your daily shot so I suggest that you associate it with your other daily routine. This will greatly help you.

It doesn’t matter what time of the day you choose to have your shot. As long there is a hormone that gets into your system every day and you keep your hcg vial refrigerated then you’re good to go.
