Longer HCG Diet Breaks

Trying to lose about 100 pounds may seem like to take forever. But sometimes rushing things through can lead to a nasty cycle of losing and gaining weight. There are a lot of reasons why some overweight people consider the faster way of losing weight. It can be due to some health issues or upcoming events and they wanted to look at their best.

Dr. Simeon recommends taking a break of 6 weeks between round 1 and round 2. Then an additional of 2 weeks for every succeeding round until you will reach your goal weight. If you think you are not fit for this kind of fast-tracking journey, you may take a much longer break. Remember that when you do a longer hcg diet break, you are still living the healthier version from your previous self. Some dieters even have their break of 8-10 weeks before doing round 2. While some dieters have had their breaks of at least 3 to 4 months long. Those who are mentally motivated have had their entire journey with HCG with fewer breaks.

Below are reasons why longer breaks between rounds can be beneficial for you.

  • You have your time to rest

Longer breaks give your body a time to rest and maintain internal balance. Losing weight faster causes your body to produces adrenal hormones than usual. In the long run, this can lead to fatigue.

  • Time to do physical activities

Longer breaks give you time to do some exercises. Exercises help build-up your muscle loss while you were on the HCG. Not only that, movement helps melts and excretes some of those abnormal fats in your body through your urine and sweat.

  • Time to attend upcoming events thus minimizes your chances of cheating

Longer breaks minimize your chances of cheating or worst stopping your round of HCG. There are times when circumstances are beyond your control. Sometimes, you don’t actually have a time that is completely clear to do the diet. It is important really to plan ahead and time out your round of HCG. Having a longer break and wait is a wise option.

  • Develop new habits

Longer breaks give you time to think for ways not to fall back into your unhealthy eating habits. It forces you to make healthier corrections whenever the scale goes up. These healthier corrections will develop into a new habit that you’ll need to maintain a long-term weight goal.

HCG Diet Breaks

During your HCG diet, there can be tons of events popping-up that you might be tempted to cheat. There is a “right way” to cheat so you can partake those holidays, party-foods and whatever upcoming events that you would be attending.

It’s called as “HCG diet breaks”. HCG diet breaks are the safest way to deviates from your diet without having to gain lots of weight. Below is a step-by-step process on how to complete an HCG diet break and ways to avoid cheating.

  1. Stop having your shot of HCG like you normally do during your transition period from P2 to P3. That’s three days before you can start doing your HCG diet break. However, when on the “exit days”-72 hour period, you should still follow the NO sugar NO carb rules.
  2. For the 72 hours period- continue eating the same P2 foods. This will allow HCG to leave your system before you can start eating a larger portion of foods. If you will eat a larger portion of foods before HCG is out of your body you may gain weight.
  3. While you are on HCG diet break, stick to your P3 eating style. That means to say you can now eat foods with fats. But you still need to stay away from all forms of foods with sugar and starches.
  4. Increase your calories to at least 800 calories. Sometimes, it could end up between 800 to 1000 calories or 1600. But remember, stick to your P3 eating style. Do not get overly full. Do not let your hunger be your guide.
  5. Decide when to get back on the diet. HCG diet breaks usually last up to 10 days. Once you’re done with your events get right back on the diet. The next morning, continue having your shot of HCG and resume with your usual P2 eating style. There is no need to re-load or gorge if your break is less than 2 weeks.

Remember

  • HCG diet breaks are not recommended if you will only eat one meal or you will binge for just one day. In my opinion, just take the hit of gaining additional pounds then resume with your usual P2 routine the next day.
  • HCG diet breaks are originally intended after you have been on the HCG for 23 days. Breaks are meant only if you’ve been doing the diet for 3 weeks.

PART 2: 26 Day Protocol vs. 46 Day Protocol

Why choose the longer round?

  1. If you have more weight to lose then do the longer rounds with breaks in between.
  2. Longer rounds allow you to reach your goal weight faster than doing the shorter rounds. It’s more efficient considering the number of times you’ll have to do the “break in between” for the shorter round. Another is the number of times you’ll purposely gain weight. Some hcg dieters gain from 6-8 pounds during gorging days. So when you lose about 20 pounds at the end of the shorter round, you can see that your loading weight is really cutting into your net loss.
  3. Doing the 46 day hcg diet protocol is better when it comes to resetting your brain’s hypothalamus and fixing your metabolism. You’ll lose a lot more fats the longer you are in the protocol. The more you would like to lose the longer you should stay in the protocol.
  4. Most hcg dieters doing the 46 day protocol finds it easier to do the hcg diet the longer they are in the protocol. Of course, the first week of the 500 calorie diet can be pretty hard but that’s natural. You’ll find yourself starving and wished it was yesterday. But as the days pass your body will adjust and your cravings will soon end. There are many ways that you can do to get distracted and keep yourself busy. Check this article out How to Avoid Cheating on the HCG Diet– Not having a clear picture of what is involved.

Why choose the shorter rounds?

  1. If you have less than 15 pounds or 7 kg to lose, the 26 day protocol is best for you.
  2. There are parties coming up and you’re struggling with what to do. In the article “How to Avoid Cheating on the HCG Diet” number 1, before starting the hcg diet you should plan ahead. As much as possible find a time that is clear of anything. That includes party, vacation, getting together with people with a bunch of foods. If you think of ways on how you’re going to get pass through the upcoming events then your best option is to do the shorter round.

PART 1: 26 Day vs. 46 Day HCG Diet Protocol

How long should I be on the protocol? The answer is it depends on how much weight you want to lose. You can do a short round or a long round. The most common is the short round or the 26-day hcg diet protocol. But you can do the long round or the 46-day hcg diet protocol. It just depends on how much weight you really want to lose.

Dr. Simeons’ instruction was clear regarding how long you should do the hGC diet. First, he clearly stressed to do the diet at a minimum of 3 weeks. Second, the maximum number of hcg injections given in a single round is 40.

When to do the 26 day protocol?

You can do the 26 day hcg diet protocol if you need to lose 15 pounds or 7 kg or less. The 26 day protocol is the 3 weeks diet Dr. Simeon mentioned in his manuscript. This is the minimum number of weeks you can be on the protocol. During the short round, you will use at least 23 injections.

The 23 injections include all the injections from the 2 loading days + 21 days of very low calorie diet (VLCD). That will give you a total of 23 injections. The remaining 3 days, you will continue with your vlcd but with no injections before continuing to the P3.That will give you a total of 26 days with 23 injections.

2 days loading with injections

21 days of vlcd with injections

3 days of vlcd without injections

How about if you want to lose only 5 pounds?

According to Dr. Simeon, dieters who need to lose only 5 pounds must never be given a treatment lasting less than 23 injections. From his studies, he noticed that those who did the diet lesser than 2 weeks have regained the weight back.

When to do the 46 day protocol?

You can do the longer round if you have more than 25 pounds to lose. And if you think you won’t lose all the 25 pounds with a shorter round. In the 46 day protocol, you’ll need 40 injections with 1 skipped injection once a week. Therefore you’ll be on the vlcd for a longer period of time. Your 46 day protocol includes the following:

2 days of loading with injections

38 days of vlcd with injections

6 days of vlcd without injections (This is the no shot day once a week)

2 days of vlcd without hCG at the end of P2

———————————————————————————-

46 days of 500 calorie diet with 40 injections

You can do 2 separate shorter rounds if you think you won’t be able to stick with the longer round. However, you will have to wait for a certain amount of time before you can proceed with the second round. The thing with HCG diet is that you have to do the diet for at least 3 weeks and not to go beyond 40 hcg injections.

The Transition Period-3 Days Before Phase 3 of the HCG Diet

After Phase 2 of the hCG diet comes the Phase 3 or the Maintenance Phase where you’ve got to eat REAL FOODS. I know you’ve been eating real foods during your P2 but what I am talking about is that you can finally add some olive oil into your dishes. But hold on…because there is still a Transition period that lasts for 3 long days before you can proceed to Phase 3.

What is Transition period?

How long: Transition period last for 72 hours or 3 days. This makes sure that all traces of HCG are out of your body before you start introducing back larger portion of foods.

When to start: Your transition period starts immediately following your last hCG shot. Now don’t get mixed up. Again, your Transition period of 72 hours begins exactly at the last time of your injection. It’s NOT 3 days after your last injection but 3 days from your last hcg injection. Your last hCG dose is included in the 72 hour period.

How to do: During your transition period you continue with your 500 calories diet WITHOUT having your dose of HCG. Why? Because when you take in more calories while there is still HCG hormone in your body could make you gain weight.

What to eat: During this period the 500 calorie diet is still followed. Your first 24 hours would be just like you are on any other very low calorie diet day. The next 24 hours would be similar your skip shot at the end of every week if you’re doing the 46 day protocol. But on your last 24 hour period, you may find yourself getting hungrier.

What to do: There is no need for you to increase your calorie intake for the first 48 hours. But on the last 24 hours, you may start increasing your calorie intake about 200-300 calories. Eat more of the Phase 2 foods ONLY when you are hungry. And stay away from fats and oil. You can start increasing your fats intake the next day.
